Matt Jones is renown for his vinyl figures Lunartik in a Cup of Tea – and produces the models for commercial licenses such as Breaking Bad or Doctor Who. With year’s worth of experience in all stages of sculpting and production, Matt will guide you through all steps of how to transform your personal design into the tangible dimension, enabling you to cast an unlimited army of your own collectible toys.
In this 2 day workshop you will be taken by the hand and guided through all stages: You will gain the required experience with the techniques and material and insight into aspects such as safety, packaging, distribution and marketing. At the end, you will happily hold your first own resin multiples in your hands.
Day 1 / 08 May (12:00 – 19:00):
Introduction by Matt Jones, modelling of a first simple character (shape provided), and pre-production of your own character design, finishing the day with the completion of your master model.
Day 2 / 09 May (12:00 – 19:00):
Production of your mould in silicone, while drying round table session, followed by producing multiples in resin.
Matt Jones, founder of Lunartik.com, is best known within the Designer Toy Scene for designing and self-producing his own designer vinyl figures Lunartik in a Cup of Tea. Apart from enjoying the more artistic aspects of his work, he also manages overseas production with a passion for perfection and detail. Recently Matt has been involved with the UK brand Titan Merchandise, who together produce vinyl figure lines for many popular cult TV, Movie, Games licences including Breaking Bad, Dragon Age, Alien, The Beatles & the UK’s beloved Doctor Who.
ACADEMY SHORT COURSE VENUE
The Academy Short Courses take place at the cultural center “Silent Green” – a former crematorium in Berlin’s Wedding district.
After being closed and forgotten for a decade, the premises with an extensive green have recently re-opened and now accommodate various creative industries, including the Pictoplasma headquarters. The venue is not only equipped to meet all of the courses requirements, but also offers facilities for the daily communal lunch and a warm, friendly atmosphere.
1. The minimum number of attendees per Academy Short Course is 5 persons.
2. The maximum number of attendees per Academy Short Course is 15 persons.
3. Pictoplasma reserves the right to cancel or reschedule the Short Course, for example should it not meet the predetermined minimum participation requirement, or in the event that the host can no longer attend. In the event of a cancellation made by Pictoplasma, the registrant’s event fee will be fully reimbursed. We will however not be held liable for any claims over and above the reimbursement of the said registrant’s event fee, except in cases of intent or gross negligence.
4. For any cancellations by the registrant that are made more than 4 weeks prior to the first day of the short course, registrants will be refunded, but charged a minimum of 10% of the original short course fee. Unfortunately, no refunds are possible for cancellations when communicated after 4 week prior to the short course. In the case that a registrant cannot attend the short course, their registration is transferable to another individual to be named by the registrant. If a replacement is found, the registrant must inform Pictoplasma in writing via email no later than four days prior to the first day of the scheduled workshop.
