Álvaro Martínez (BOL)
Avassi aka Alvaro Martinez is a Bolivian illustrator who gets his inspiration from ancient pre-Columbian culture as well as contemporary indigenous and syncretic Latin-American cultural manifestations such as sculptures, dances and traditions. His insight into Bolivia as an anthropologist helps him not only to depict Bolivian culture precisely but also to give it a new and positive perspective. As a co-creator of the trademark rokooko he uses humor and his observation skills to make laugh and think at the same time; the range of products goes from magnets to posters and wooden figures. He published his graphics in several Bolivian media and is now concentrating on creating marionettes and artistic toys.
